Green Hills Veterinary Clinic

Emergency Vet in Moberly, MO

As pet owners, we all know that our furry friends can get into trouble at any time. Whether it's a sudden illness or an accident, it's important to know where to turn for help in a pet emergency.

During Business Hours

If your pet has an emergency during our business hours, call us immediately. Tell the reception staff that you are on your way, approximately how far away you are, and a brief explanation of what the emergency is. This will allow our staff time to set up for the stabilization of your pet’s condition and prepare for any anticipated diagnostic tests.

After-Hours Emergency Care

We have an emergency phone line for clients to communicate with one of our on-call doctors to determine the best course of action. Our current clients can reach the on call Doctor by calling the regular clinic number at 660-263-9797 and follow the prompts.

Our on-call doctor will determine if an emergency visit is needed. For non-active clients we recommend contacting the University of Missouri ER service or Horton Discovery 24 hour clinic in Columbia.

What is Considered a Pet Emergency?

It's important to be aware of the signs that indicate your pet may be experiencing a medical emergency. These signs may include:

  • Difficulty breathing
  • Unconsciousness
  • Severe bleeding
  • Ingestion of toxic substances
  • Severe vomiting or diarrhea
  • Inability to urinate or defecate
  • Seizures
  • Extreme lethargy or weakness
  • Trauma or injury
  • Difficulty giving birth

If your pet is exhibiting any of these symptoms, it's important to seek immediate medical attention.

Poison Control

In addition to our on-call emergency doctor, if you have a concern regarding accidental ingestion of food, medication, plants or any other toxin, please call the ASPCA Poison Control Hotline at 888-426-4435 or visit: ASPCA is your best resource for any animal poison-related emergency and are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

You may also contact the Pet Poison Hotline* at 855-886-7965.

* A consultation fee may apply.
